Gluten-Free Eating in Marion, Va
The beautiful, small, rural town of Marion, Va is the home of Hungry Mother State Park, The Lincoln Theater, and a friendly community. I bet the first thing to pop into your mind with that description was “I’ll never be able to eat here,” but you’re wrong! This lovely town has added several restaurants that have various gluten-free options recently, making it much easier for those with eating restrictions like celiac disease to dine out.
The Wooden Pickle
The Wooden Pickle is my go-to place in Marion. They have a great atmosphere, phenomenal food, and a pretty great tap list. They even offer ghost peppers and ghost pepper cheese! They’re conveniently located on Main Street and have a pretty extensive gluten-free menu. If you’re looking for an amazing local place, I highly recommended visiting this one. As always, be sure to inform your server of your celiac disease.
27 Lions
This delicious restaurant, conveniently located on Main Street in Marion has a fantastic atmosphere, great customer service, and delicious food. They frequently have live music, as well. They offer gluten-free pizza that’s safe and delicious. If you’re looking for a great experience out on the town one evening, stop in on a weekend, catch some great live music, a drink, and some delicious gluten-free pizza. Be sure to inform the kitchen of your dietary restrictions, like celiac disease.
Mi Puerto
Located beside Walmart, near the turn for Hungry Mother State Park, Mi Puerto serves delicious Mexican food at a great price.
They offer great specials throughout the week and make a mean margarita. You should definitely check them out if you’re in the area.
Four Seasons Catering and Bakery
This delicious restaurant is located on Main Street near The Past Time Antique Emporium. They offer gluten-free foods and the wonderful owner, Rhonda, is very well aware of celiac and gluten-free needs. You can often find their goodies at the farmer’s market as well.
Small towns don’t have to be a hunger-sentence to those with gluten-free needs. With a little research and a lot of patience, you can find a restaurant that can help you get the experience of a local restaurant without having to worry about getting sick.
